NEILL This book meets the points in Green and Hanff, Bibliographia Oziana for a 1920's printing. We have collated the book and all 16 plates by John R. Neill are present. The plates are clean and without markings, dog-ears, chips or tears. The captions are in blue lettering. There are no names in the 'This Book Belongs To' page and no other markings in the book. There is a one inch closed tear on the first front flyleaf that has been professionally mended using archival mending tissue. The green cloth boards have light shelf-wear. The bottom corners are square and firm and the top corners show light bumping. The spine ends show the usual wrinkling, but no tears or chips. The black lettering on spine and tinman illustration are clear and sharp. There is very light discoloration at lower edge back board. The front board and illustration are outstanding on this book. It is one of the nicest we've seen, having the very slightest shelf-wear. There are no major scratches or scars. The illustration is crisp and the colors remain bright and vivid. See photo. The back board contains a black and white illustgration of the same four. The text has been neatly adapted by Horace J. Elias. There are at least two black and white pictures from the movie on every page of this 127 page book. The final two pages contain the lyrics of the Songs from the Wizard of Oz: 'Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead'; 'We're Off To See the Wizard'; and the haunting 'Over the Rainbow', with a wonderful picture of Judy and Toto sitting together as she sings it.
