HAGIWARA, KYOHEI JACK AND BETTY, ENGLISH STEP BY STEP 2ND. STEP (REVISED) TOKYO KAIRYUDO 1952 1950'S SOFT COVER Very Good NONE This is one of the readers published after the American occupation of WWII Japan. It was intended to introduce America and the American way to Japanese children, as well as teaching English. The series of school readers was highly successful. The cover of fhe book, the endpapers and illustrations thoughout epitomize the American way of life, often too idealized. Some have compared these books to the Dick and Jane teaching programs, but these books are prepared to reach a higher level of student, though the style is 'Dick and Jane'. This is a wonderful phase in the history of cementing Japanese/American relations after a vicious confrontation in WWII. The books were successful and, as the world can see, so were the students. See our listing under "Jack and Betty" our book number 022082 for more information. Questions welcome. Price:
