THE BOOK: The book has been collated and all the wonderful drawings and photographs are present, intact and clean. The book is tight and straight. The fore-edge pages are rough-cut and no pages remain unopened. There are no tears, chips, holes or repairs to any pages. The book has been tightly shelved, therefore a light toning to page edges is at a minimum. There is a tasteful previous owner book plate on inside of front board. The red top-edge coloring is bright and clean, with only a pin-head dot and a light rub at top fore-edge, both probably done at publication. Also at publication the red color has gone below last four page edges and end papers for about 1/8 inch. There are very light, hardly noticeable bumps to corners. The red boards are clean, with light shelf-wear at lower edge back board. The black spine titling and decoration is crisp and clear. The spine top and bottom is free of tears or chips, with only a very slight wrinkling. DUSTJACKET: The original yellow-brown dustjacket is complete, showing a background illustration of New York streets. The front panel red and black titling is crisp and clear. The red spine titling is faded and barely legible, but the black lettering of author name remains clear. There is a 1.5 x 1/4 inch chip at top spine and minor chip at lower spine. The flaps are free of dog-ears or creasing. This is one of the better hardback copies we've seen of this book by any publisher, and the best Blue Ribbon issue.
